Matthew O’Brien is a California photographer and filmmaker with a long history in Colombia. Her work is always about discovering and celebrating beauty, be it between humans or the natural world. ROYAL COLOMBIA, his photographic series that explores Colombia through beauty contests, was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena and at the Colombian American Center in Medellin in 2004. In 2010 he was a Fulbright scholar, and has taught at various universities in Colombia. In 2014 the traveling exhibition was launched and the book NO DAR PAPAYA, his photographic exploration of Colombia, made over eleven years, was published on Polaroid. Live in California and always wanting to return to Colombia.
